Admin Officer - Barnet Civil and family court - Central Family Court
Contract: October 2025
Salary: £14.75 per hour
Location: Finchley, North London - Central Family Court - Holborn
5 days' work setting
This is a temporary contract role until October 2025 for an Admin Officer position, with an immediate start date (subject to compliance), lasting five months with a possible extension. The role involves working in a London location (Holborn) in a 5-day office setting.
Job Responsibilities:
* Preparing papers and files for court, tribunals, hearings, and meetings.
* General photocopying and filing.
* Creating and updating records on in-house computer systems and data input.
* Post opening and dispatch.
* Booking, preparing, and organizing meeting rooms; supporting training courses and group activities.
* Preparing meeting agendas, joining instructions, handouts, etc.
Drafting:
* Standard letters, correspondence, minutes, notes, reports, and submissions following guidelines.
* Maintaining accurate notes on operating systems following inquiries or case actions.
Operations:
* Clerking civil and family courts, tribunals, and hearings; ensuring papers are up to date.
* Assisting court users, managing listings and rosters, checking files.
* Contacting relevant parties, scheduling, serving court documents, executing warrants, collecting fines and fees, including chip and pin transactions.
* Handling face-to-face inquiries and a broad range of written and telephone inquiries.
* Participating in team meetings and contributing to small projects.
Processing Casework:
* Handling standard documentation, court orders, claims, fines, fees, and legal aid.
* Accurately resulting courts and interpreting information for case files.
* Working towards workload targets for throughput and accuracy.
Checking and Verifying:
* Documents, records, accounts, claims, and returns against criteria and standards.
* Ensuring compliance and quality in administration documentation.
* Cross-checking and validating colleagues' work as needed.
Information Gathering:
* Preparing reports, statements, warrants, statistical analyses, and reports.
* Interpreting source materials, preparing bundles, and chasing information.
* Modifying and adjusting information for work completion.
Calculations:
* Producing basic statistical reports and processing financial information.
* Checking others' work, updating records, reconciling accounts, preparing invoices.
* Managing small sums of money and estimating juror numbers efficiently.
Communication:
* Engaging with judiciary, court staff, external agencies, and stakeholders to collect information, check facts, and provide customer service.
* Delivering helpful, prompt, and accurate service to internal and external customers.
