An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Commercial Contract Manager within the JSM Group Services Ltd. in London and Home counties.
Estimated salary: £65,000 - £80,000 per annum.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead our commercial and procurement management team. As a key member of the Gas Division, you will establish and implement pre- and post-contract commercial and reporting systems and procedures across various civil engineering and utility contracts.
You will be responsible for evaluating, negotiating, managing, and mitigating commercial and contractual risks for the contracts.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of exceeding business targets and KPIs, with experience in managing subcontractors, tender submissions, contract administration, and cost reporting.
Main Responsibilities
* Manage subcontracts, including negotiation of rates, reconciliation of tender/subcontractor rates, agreeing variations, and assessing applications.
* Tender submissions, including preparing, negotiating, and analysing costs for tenders, reviewing terms and conditions, clarifying tenders, and preparing subcontract tender packages if required.
* Contract administration through preparation of monthly valuations, variations control, arranging for payment, contract administration, and preparation and assessment of claims if required.
* Cost reporting, including preparing monthly reports analysing cost v value for our monthly CVRs.
Requirements
* Previous experience of civil engineering and utility contracts at a Senior Quantity Surveyor level.
* Customer-aware and innovative, capable of maximising contract benefits for mutual and long-term benefit.
* Able to lead, set up, and manage site-based commercial and reporting systems.
* A 'hands-on' approach with proven ability to run own jobs.
* Accurate with good attention to detail and highly organised.
* Experience in NEC option A and JCT forms of contract.
* Able to bring together operational and commercial staff to work as a unit.
* A competent negotiator, skilled communicator.
* IT literate and experienced in working with MS Office and other applications and Cost Control Systems.
Qualifications
Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
