About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Health, Safety & Quality Manager to join a reputable and well-established manufacturing business in Kidderminster. This is a critical leadership position responsible for managing all aspects of Health, Safety, Environmental (HSE), and Quality Assurance (QA) across the site.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping and embedding a positive health and safety culture, while also ensuring the company’s products meet and exceed quality standards. You’ll work cross-functionally with operations, engineering, and senior leadership, leading the charge on compliance, employee wellbeing, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety Management
Take full ownership of the company’s Health & Safety Management System (HSMS), ensuring legal compliance and best practice implementation.
Carry out regular site inspections and risk assessments, identifying hazards and recommending corrective actions.
Maintain and update the site’s Health & Safety Policy, procedures, and risk registers.
Investigate and report on accidents, incidents, and near misses, ensuring corrective actions are communicated and completed.
Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and employee training in line with legislative requirements and internal standards.
Lead fire safety measures, emergency preparedness, and first aid coordination on site.
Liaise with external bodies (e.g., HSE, insurers) and ensure the site is audit-ready at all times.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
Manage and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS) in line with ISO 9001:2015 standards.
Develop and implement quality inspection procedures and testing protocols across production stages.
Monitor product quality and drive the resolution of quality issues through root cause analysis and CAPA processes.
Conduct internal audits and manage external certification and surveillance audits.
Lead quality investigations, manage customer complaints, and implement corrective/preventive actions.
Maintain and oversee document control, calibration records, and product traceability logs.
Leadership & Strategic Input
Act as a trusted advisor to the senior management team on all matters relating to Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality.
Create and deliver the site’s HSQ strategy and continuous improvement roadmap.
Champion employee engagement and behavioural safety initiatives, building a positive and proactive HSQ culture.
Mentor and develop staff in best practices for quality and safety awareness.
Oversee the performance of the site’s safety and quality KPIs, reporting regularly to senior leadership.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Demonstrable experience in a similar role within manufacturing, engineering, or industrial environments.
NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) is essential; NEBOSH Diploma or working towards is desirable.
Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015, with experience managing audits and certification processes.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently and as part of a team.
Confident using systems for risk assessments, QMS, reporting, and data tracking.
