Hours: 40 hours per week - Monday to Friday
Contract: Permanent - Full time
What will you be responsible for?
As a Bridge Inspection Manager, you'll be working within the Engineering team, supporting them in developing, delivering and managing the bridge inspection programmes in accordance with CS 450 - Inspection of Highway Structures, to meet the contractual requirements of the Birmingham highways interim services contract.
Your day to day will include:
* Developing and managing progress of the principal, general, special and asbestos management inspection programmes, reviewing and approving principal, general, special and asbestos management inspections, requesting quotations and raising task orders for specialist inspection and site investigation subcontractors appointed to carry out principal inspections and inspections for assessment.
* Liaising with the assessment team confirming they are analysing and investigating defects/structures and actioning outcomes of any assessments as appropriate, communicating with external organisations (principally Network Rail and Canal and River Trust) with regards to access for inspections on third party land, providing ad-hoc formal/informal advice to client organisation and third parties.
* Agreeing need for further investigations and facilitating their implementation, providing formal/informal advice to operational teams on managing defects associated with structures, developing GG104 assessments as required (i.e. managing existing risks or determining suitable solutions).
* Reviewing subcontractors risk assessments and method statements in accordance with company processes and procedures, providing inspection progress reports and statistics for internal and external clients.
* Collaborating with designers, commercial teams, contractors and delivery teams as necessary also working with asset leads pushing efficiencies like cost saving.
What are we looking for?
* You hold a degree or qualification in a civil engineering specialism with extensive experience of highway structures inspections in accordance with BD 63/07 and CS 450 and special access techniques and arrangements including rope access, confined space working, powered access and traffic management, and are well versed in the use of bridge asset management systems.
* Have a current full driving licence.
* Can take project ownership for delegated duties as well as demonstrate mentoring skills.
