The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service would like to invite applications for the post of Business Support Assistant, based in Motherwell Fire Station and LSO Offices on a temporary basis. This is a full-time opportunity, working 35 hours per week.
This is a full-time post however applications from individuals seeking to work on a part time, job share or flexible working basis would be considered.
The successful candidate will be required to work in a key business support role to provide a high quality and sustainable business support to local Service Delivery Area Management Teams.
Some of the key tasks of the role include the provision of full administrative support for various meetings, handling telephone calls, processing absences for sickness and special leave and dealing with any enquiries, processing financial information which includes raising purchase orders and stock requests, receipting goods and paying invoices, booking travel and accommodation, handling both incoming and outgoing mail, maintaining and preparing information for a variety of bespoke systems.
Previous experience of working within a busy general office environment and a working knowledge of Microsoft Packages, in particular Word and Excel are essential. Experience of taking minutes is also required.
You should be able to work on your own initiative, prioritise your own workload and be able to meet tight deadlines in a fast-changing environment whilst maintaining a strong attention to detail. You will need to be self-motivated and have excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills coupled with a flexible approach. A strong awareness of confidentiality is also essential.

Salary on appointment will normally be at the lower salary point, with progression subject to regular review - in line with the SFRS performance appraisal arrangements. A higher salary placing will be considered in exceptional circumstances subject to experience demonstrated.
This post is also subject to the provision of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exclusions and Exemptions) Scotland Order. Therefore, the successful candidate's will be subject to a Standard Disclosure record check through Disclosure Scotland.
