Haematology Locum Consultant Specialising in Lymphoma
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Locum Consultant Haematologist with an interest in Lymphoma and General Haematology to join the team at Withybush General Hospital. We welcome all applicants to apply. Our dedicated and forward-looking team of 7 consultants provides a comprehensive haematology service in an area of outstanding beauty. This post will introduce a Lymphoma subspecialty to our team as part of a redesign of haematology services across the Health Board.
Our vision is to provide a future-proof service for our patients to ensure they can be cared for as close to their home as possible.
Main duties of the job
The appointee should demonstrate experience in the management of Lymphoma and General Haematology. Responsibilities include:
* Participating in an attending and on-call rota for the Carmarthen site.
* Consultative contributions at three peripheral sites.
* Participating in 3-4 outpatient clinics per week within Lymphoma and General Haematology.
* Joining weekly health board-wide MDTs and opportunities to join other MDTs from all Wales MDTs.
* Contributing to all aspects of general haematology and haemo-oncology work, including departmental meetings and on-call rota.
* 10 Sessions with 1xSPA per week.
* Clinics in other hospital sites may be required (virtual clinics are an option).
* Helping develop our rural service to ensure excellent patient care.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice
* Valid Certified Advanced Life Support Skills
* MBBS or equivalent
* FRCPath or equivalent
* Appropriate Higher Degree e.g. MD, PhD or MSc or equivalent
* On Specialist Register with GMC or CCT due within 6 months of interview date
* Or CESR or equivalent European Qualifications for Specialist Registration
Clinical Experience
* Broad-based experience in clinical haematology
* Competence in clinical haematology
* Safe and effective written and verbal communication skills
* Experience of NHS
* Evidence of above-average performance
Clinical Governance
* Evidence of participation in clinical audit and understanding of its role in improving medical practice
* Knowledge of risk management
Research
* Experience and knowledge of critical appraisal of evidence to improve clinical outcomes
* Evidence of initiating, progressing, and concluding research projects with publication
Teaching
* Evidence of organising programmes and teaching medical students and junior doctors
* Willingness to teach all grades of professional multidisciplinary staff
Management
* Knowledge of the management and structure of the NHS
* Willingness to participate in clinical management
