We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Pastoral Support Assistant to join our team in a mainstream secondary school. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting students with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN) and will provide both academic and pastoral support to help students thrive in the school environment. You will work closely with students to enhance their academic performance, social development, and emotional well-being. This role requires a Teaching Assistant qualification, as you will be working with students on Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and supporting them across various subjects. Key Responsibilities: Provide individualised support for secondary students with SEN, assisting them in accessing the curriculum and participating fully in school life. Work with class teachers to support differentiated learning, particularly in core subjects such as English, maths, and science. Support students emotional and social development, ensuring they feel included, valued, and supported in the school community. Assist with behaviour management, promoting positive attitudes and a conducive learning environment. Help students develop effective communication and organisational skills, encouraging independence where possible. Work closely with teachers and other staff members to track students progress and contribute to the creation and review of Individual Education Plans (IEPs). Collaborate with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure students receive consistent and effective support. The Ideal Candidate Will Have: Experience working with secondary-aged students with Special Educational Needs. A background in supporting students in a mainstream school setting, particularly in academic and emotional development. Strong understanding of behaviour management techniques tailored to secondary students. Excellent communication skills and a patient, empathetic approach to supporting students.
