Our Senior Software Developer will help Operations with Governance and 3rd line support activities working on our Microservice based APIs built with .NET (C#) deployed on Azure Cloud.
You will contribute to, and influence, our software development architectures and standards for design, build, and implementation of hosted solutions / APIs. Taking a lead technical and governance role on deployed microservice APIs.
You will be responsible for the delivery of best value service aligned to current business demands. The role will also require some face-to-face time with business stakeholders to help understand software solutions and carry out bug root cause analysis.
Where you fit in? As our Senior Software Developer you will:
* Design, develop and govern global APIs, and all associated integration whilst maintaining and supporting the IT Programme of work.
* Contribute to the software development standards and governing adherence to them.
* Strong ability to articulate business master data requirements in relation to solution design.
* Understanding of architectural roles, domains, methodologies and design strategies.
* Contribute to the technical procurement and adoption standards for commercial services and systems.
* Demonstrate innovation to exploit existing technologies.
* Perform a senior development role on software development projects, being accountable for identifying technical tasks, adhering to IT process, and creating high quality detailed technical designs to support overall technical solution.
* Delivering software services that are robust and reliable, secure in nature, compliant with legal requirements of licensing, technically fit for purpose and meet specified service level agreements.
* Keep abreast of changes within the software team to enhance the services provided to promote innovation, reduce costs, manage risk and build resilience.
* Undertake specialist detailed and complex troubleshooting activities within your technical discipline.
What skills & qualifications you will need:
* Experience of leading the design, development and delivery of robust and reliable API services within Azure cloud environment, with a proven track record of driving sustainable performance against challenging business targets, in two or more of the following technical disciplines:
* MS SQL experience including writing SQL scripts.
* An excellent understanding of Service Oriented Architecture design that integrates correctly.
* Excellent knowledge of documentation, testing and release management principles with the ability to prioritise and execute tasks in a dynamic, changing environment.
* Highly motivated and self-reliant with a personal drive for continuous development you will have proven analytical and problem-solving abilities and excellent interpersonal skills.
* Extensive knowledge of the system development lifecycle.
You will also benefit from having:
* Extensive knowledge of Yorkshire Water’s major IT services.
* Experience of working with React 18.
* Previous experience of working with the Mulesoft Design pattern.
* Previous experience in an operational and/or strategic leadership role in a commercially orientated and/or regulated environment.
* Previous experience gained within the water or wastewater sectors or within the broader utilities, process or manufacturing industry sectors.
