Dales Marine is excited to announce that applications for their highly esteemed apprenticeship programme are now being accepted. We are recruiting for two Steelwork and Fabrication Apprentices.
Apprentices are welcomed into a four-year apprenticeship programme. This structured initiative entails two years of training, a blend of on-site experience at Dales Marine and academic coursework, and an additional two years of site-focused training.
As part of the Dales Marine Apprenticeship 2025 recruitment process, applicants must complete the following online assessment. If you require extra time to complete this assessment there is an option to select this at the beginning of the test.
If your application is progressed, you will be invited to attend an assessment day at West College in April.
Job Requirements
* Apprentice welders are required to assist in the planning, preparation and undertaking of vessel repairs and fabrication projects to agreed timescales. To produce welded work to the quality appropriate to their employed skill and testing level.
* They will work alongside experienced welders to assist in the development of their skills and knowledge and progress towards the completion of their Modern Apprenticeship to become a fully qualified Tradesman.
* During their daily duties they would receive instruction in the following tasks and then, once confident and competent to do so, be required to fit, tack and weld various plates, pipes, beams, channels and other steelwork. These welding operations would be part of the fabrication process in the building of pipework, frames, handrails, large structures such as tanks, frames, on and offshore modules as well as vessel mobilisation projects and structural repairs to vessels.
* Apprentices may carry out other duties from time to time during their working day, these duties will be part of the daily dry dock operations and all Apprentices will receive full training before they commence this work.
* Apprentice applicants should have National 5 Maths and English. Science or Technical subject would be advantageous.
* Apprentice engineers have a standard 39-hour week, but overtime and weekend work are often available.
* Apprentice engineers will be required to attend West College on a part-time basis as part of their Modern Apprenticeship.
