Estimator / Senior Estimator Rail / Civil Engineering Location –Pontyclun, Swanley, Basingstoke or Highbridge Region – South (and associated business units - Wales, Western & South East) An exciting opportunity for an Estimator or Senior Estimator to join the South region, pre–contract team, supporting associated business units throughout Wales, Western and the South East. The role will be responsible for estimating contracts and projects during pre-contract/tender stage for a range of multi-disciplinary rail infrastructure projects, primarily focussed on rail, CP7 framework projects. Business Unit A busy and fast paced region involved in a range of projects at pre-contract/tender stage covering rail infrastructure work inclusive of but not limited to civil engineering & building works, Mechanical & Electrical, Electrification & Plant works. AmcoGiffen are dedicated to delivering projects across a variety of sectors with typical works including bridges and footbridges, embankments, station improvements, platforms, tunnels, electrification etc. The pre-contract/work winning team are involved in multi-disciplinary civils and engineering infrastructure projects across the Southern region, whether one off tendered projects or projects within our long term national framework / contract agreements with key clients. Existing contracts include CP6 & CP7 infrastructure projects, minor works and Environment Agency frameworks with works typically including bridge re-construction/replacement, upgrades and refurbishments, station work (platforms, access for all etc.), structures including bridges, tunnels and footbridges. The Role As Senior Estimator, your primary focus will be tender opportunities/ITTs. The works in the region comprise of building and civil engineering schemes, tendered under numerous Network Rail Frameworks in the Wales and other South business units. The region is growing rapidly and estimating support is required to support the expansion with the key tasks and responsibilities of the role including but not be limited to: The effective registration, control and administration of tender documentation The preparation and management of tenders from receipt of documents through to delivery The presentation of tenders to senior management at tender review meetings Liaison with the Supply Chain team in respect of placing supplier / subcontractor enquiries Technical and commercial appraisal of construction labour, plant, materials and temporary works Take offs from drawings and production of cost effective tenders from first principles. The effective analysis and pricing of risks The preparation of tender submission documents The preparation of estimating reports Providing assistance to proposals and contract management functions Requirements To excel in this role, you will have previous experience as an Estimator or Senior Estimator in a rail infrastructure environment to include multi-disciplinary projects and/or frameworks. Essential: First Principles Estimating experience Rail and Civil engineering project experience Experience as a Senior Estimator in a rail contracting organisation Preferred Experience in a site based / operational role prior to your Estimating career would be a distinct benefit to the role.
