Our Role
As a Junior designer for LWC you will support the team in delivering LWC Clothing strategy together with the BMDT teams helping to develop ways to build the Brand image, strengthen LWC market position and increase profits through your designs. You will have an excellent eye for quality and luxury with a sharp awareness of relevant fashion trends and an understanding of how to influence LWC customer in a timely manner.
Contribution & collaboration to the seasonal White Print bringing your department’s design direction and ensuring it co-ordinates and delivers the Design team’s vision.
Ensure new product opportunities and trends are addressed and working with the buying teams, ensure they are commercially and appropriately developed for LWC customer.
What you’ll be doing
* To support in designing all the LWC product ranges.
* To help create LWC clothing mood boards at the beginning of each season which reflect White Print, the overall seasonal mood set for the whole of the business.
* To design motif across all areas of LWC.
* To design print across all areas of LWC – prior experience of putting artworks into repeat in illustrator is essential to the role.
* To set up clear and accurate briefs for each LWC style and work closely with the garment tech to establish specifications for first samples.
* To liaise with suppliers thereafter as required.
* To be responsible for all of the admin around the logging, tracking and storing of LWC bought clothing samples and print artworks.
* Identifying & sourcing new fabrics, yarns or components for new sample development to drive new product and range development for the customer.
* To regularly review competitors and conduct relevant trend research.
* To have the ability to strategically plan and to be extremely organised.
* Ensure all designs are executed and meet your departments’ critical path dates.
* Maintain an in-depth understanding of the market, supplier base, competition, and customer requirements across your departments in particular.
What skills & experience you’ll need
* Extensive experience with preferably an international brand, retailer, or manufacturer. Your design speciality should be childrenswear (age 0-6 years in particular). It is essential that you either have experience with the entry luxury/high-end high street market or can demonstrate a clear understanding of the essential differences from mass market children’s brands.
* Strong track record with creative & commercial success and experience working within a retail BMDT team.
* BA degree in Fashion/Textiles design.

* Good verbal and visual communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly, effectively and appropriately with colleagues, suppliers and others at all levels.
* Excellent sketch & spec skills to understand garment production.
* Excellent CAD and print skills. Computer skills to include Photoshop, Illustrator.
* Strong enthusiasm for LWC as a brand.
