Job overview
In recent GMC training surveys, Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust have consistently received excellent feedback regarding the culture, education and training provided to our doctors in Emergency Medicine.
Clinical role: Tier 3 rota – predominantly covering PEM, but would be expected to also work across the ED as required.
Non-Clinical role: Aid with development of PEM across the ED’s.
Split 60:40 (non-clinical time would predominantly be taken from in-hours rota).
Main duties of the job
Successful applicants will work on our annualised rota which has been recently re-designed to encourage a good work life balance.
During clinical time, you will be expected to focus on the assessment and early management of patients who are acutely ill and injured as well as treating patients with less serious illnesses and injuries.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
We are inviting applications in the Emergency Medicine Department at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust for Clinical Fellows at ST3 Level. Although not recognised training posts, there is access to regular weekly teaching with the intention that the service commitment, supervision level and educational opportunities will be equivalent to that of our existing trainees and mirrors a training post in every way. You will be offered first class training and development opportunities to enhance your career.
This job would be ideally suited for doctors taking time out after the completion of their foundation training who have a keen interest in a career in emergency medicine and would like to develop their portfolio.
Candidates must be fully registered with the General Medical Council or be eligible for registration at the time of application.
Minimum Requirements
* Applicants must be Registered with the General Medical Council and hold a Licence to Practise.
Experience and Achievements
* Must be able to demonstrate a level of clinical experience and competence in all aspects of the Emergency Medicine specialty.
* Understanding current issues within Emergency Medicine and the future direction of the specialty.
* Understanding current issues within the wider NHS.
* Shows ability to work with and lead others across professions.
Teaching and Training
* Experience of and enthusiasm for clinical teaching of postgraduate doctors and non-medical staff.
* Academic achievements/evidence of familiarity with research methods which have resulted in publications.
* Training in clinical and educational supervision.
* Attendance at a teaching course.
* Formal qualification in teaching/education.
Audit and Research
* Knowledge of Audit principles and evidence of participation in and completion of audit projects.
* Critical Appraisal Skills.

* Eligibility to work in the UK.
* Ability to work in various locations throughout the network of services provided by Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust.
* For areas requiring EPP Clearance (Exposure Prone Procedures), this will also be a requirement of the health screening.
* An enhanced DBS disclosure will be required with the Disclosure and Barring Service.
