Senior Civil Site Manager
Location: Norfolk
Start Date: 6th January 2025 (earlier if available)
Duration: 18 months (Possible extension)
Day Rate: £550 per day (Outside IR35)
Turner Lovell is recruiting for an international EPC contractor who deliver multiple high-profile renewable energy projects throughout the UK. We are recruiting a Civil Site Manager responsible for the management and coordination of the civil engineering/construction site works and close-out of the civil, building and fit out works to cost, time & quality and supporting the project team in the completion of the project.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Monitor the programme on daily basis and ensure that critical path is not affected
2. Report any programme deviations to the Civil Engineering Project Manager and discuss/propose any corrective measures at site level to maintain the project end date unaffected
3. Fulfil General Site Manager / PC Rep role at times of sickness/holiday/weekend working cover.
4. Coordinate the interface works in line with programme and design requirements
5. Monitoring and reporting on progress to clients, project managers, design team members and quantity surveyors.
6. Undertake frequent site walks on a daily basis
7. A clear eye for detail you will be able to produce results that will push the project to closeout (RIBA 6) on or before schedule
8. Organize any extra works to be completed within the time frames.
9. Carrying out regular inspections of the work on site;
10. Comparing completed work with drawings and specifications to ensure they are consistent or that variations have been through correct approvals processes;
11. Resolving issues as to the interpretation of agreed drawings and specifications;
12. Measuring and sampling building materials to ensure they meet all required quality standards;
13. Identifying defects, providing options for correcting them and facilitating and keeping records of any negotiations and contract variations subsequently required;
14. Maintain (and update daily) the Snag/Punch list
15. Undertake snag/punch list closeout with the clients representatives
16. Works within Limits of Authority
17. Liaison with the assigned Procurement Officer on all subcontractor & supplier packages
18. Liaison with site personnel on the allocated works and deliverables.
19. Ensuring professional stakeholder management.
20. Ensuring timely decisions on open issues, escalating if necessary.
21. Chair technical and progress meetings with subcontractors and internal stakeholders
22. Attend client meetings
23. Manage TQ's with tenderers and subcontractors and the client and ensure responses are provided within the contractual period of reply
24. Liaise with the civil design coordinators to ensure the flow of design documentation is efficient
25. Ensure that relevant work documentation (RAMS, temporary works register, ITP's) are in place and approved prior to works commencing
26. In conjunction with the site team and QMiP ensure that quality of the works is in line with approved design. Ensure that all nonconformities issues will be recorded at site level on specific NCR forms and include these in the NCR database. Liaise with Quality Manager in Projects and SPM to report deviation from quality standards and measures that are in place to address these issues.
27. Support the site manager and Site Safety advisor in the development of H&S culture at site level and in organising audits of subcontractors
28. Ensure customer contractual requirements are met.
29. Abide by all business compliance requirements in line with Company policies, for example, Business Conduct Guidelines & Confidential Information.
Experience: 10 years experience within the Construction industry
Mandatory Qualifications:
1. BSc in Construction Management/Civil Engineering or equivalent experience
2. Good Communicator and Pro-active demeanor
3. Experience of working as part of a Project Team
4. Several years' experience in construction/Civil Engineering
5. Strong understanding of construction methodology, construction quality issues and ability to identify during the construction and closeout stage.
6. Construction Planning/Scheduling knowledge
7. Experience of handovers / snagging procedures
8. SMSTS
9. CSCS
10. Competent in IT particularly Microsoft Office and Outlook
11. Assertive and strong personality
12. Strong knowledge of construction and technology
13. Good understanding of CDM Regulations 2015
14. Good understanding of Health & Safety Legislation
15. HSE First Aid at Work
16. Temporary Works Coordinator
17. EUSR CAT 1 & 2 (HSG47, Cat & Geny, Safe Digging Practices)
Desirable:
1. Membership of a construction professional body e.g. CIOB, ICE, RICS
2. National Grid Person & BESC
3. CPCS Appointed Person (A61- Lifting Operations) - Desirable
