Sales Manager
Position Summary
Reporting to the Head of Sales, the Food Service Sales Manager's primary responsibilities include the implementation of the Company's strategic and operational sales plan. This role will be responsible for maintaining relationships and business with key foodservice customers, creating a vision for each to follow and gain market share. The successful incumbent will be expected to drive mutually beneficial customer engagement, provide leadership, training sessions and career guidance for the sales team and ensure business growth is achieved.
The role involves nationwide travel as we have Territory Managers in various locations countrywide. Our head office is located in Newtownmountkennedy, Co Wicklow. Description:
1. Management, Operations and Business Development
1. Have full P&L responsibility, follow the business strategic growth plans with Head of Sales and Directors and implement actions effectively to develop profitable revenue.
2. Regularly analyse the Sales Teams performance with the Head of Sales and implement the right action plans where needed.
3. Provide leadership, monitor and drive performance of the team to achieve targets.
4. Food service strategy plan. A roadmap for the food service division that defines the vision, mission, goals, and actions for each stakeholder. This will involve aligning resources, communicating direction, and measuring progress.
5. Update the senior management team on market trends, competitor's strategies so that the organisation can prepare and regulate plans accordingly.
6. Analyse the territory/market's potential and over time determine the value of existing and prospective customers value.
7. Responsible for developing plans and executing presentations which support both short and long-term sales and marketing strategies.
2. Sales and Sales Support
1. Promote/Sell/Secure orders from existing and prospective customers.
2. Organise tasting demonstrations/support events with prospective and existing customers (weekend if necessary) and organise planned periodic promotions within foodservice.
3. Develop, train and continuously motivate sales associates towards achieving and exceeding personal and team objectives.
4. Collaborate and educate/train the sales team to ensure the products supplied remain relevant to customers and that they are then qualified to further demonstrate the lines of product independently.
5. Coordinate sales effort with Head of Sales, Accounting, and Supply Chain.
6. Works effectively across their portfolio of existing and new accounts to ensure successful delivery of assigned targets.
7. Supply management with oral and written reports on customer's needs, problems, competitive activities, and potential for new products.
8. Demonstrate continuous growth in sales volume whilst maintaining margin objectives.
9. Explore and grow the client account list, dealing with incoming leads and ending sales.
10. Seek out and direct new customers and sales opportunities, initiating action plans to advance and procure new business for the company.
11. Maintain strong customer relations to drive the business.
12. Draft and execute a suite of sales SOPs.
3. Staff Training and Development
1. Plan an effective sales territory to maximize the selling time to maximise the expected sales.
2. Providing training and direction to staff on a regular basis.
3. Coaching and developing the team to reach their potential.
4. Ad Hoc Duties
1. Attend trade shows or sales meetings off-site when necessary.
2. Any other duties as assigned to you by your manager.
The Ideal Candidate will have:
1. Excellent knowledge of the Food/FMCG Sector - with particular focus on Premium Food Service.
2. 3 years' experience in a similar role within Food Service in a FMCG environment.
3. A skilled communicator, capable of motivating others and building effective teams.
4. Commercially aware with strong business acumen.
5. Proficient computer skills - Experience in using Microsoft NAV a distinct advantage.
6. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, a self-starter who needs little direction and has a proven track record of success.
7. A desire to manage and drive a diverse team to reach their full potential.
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000
