Trainee Manager
Location: Cuddington
Salary: £34,872
Hours: Includes shift work – Ave 40hrs per week over the course of a month.
We are currently looking for a devoted and ambitious Trainee Manager who is committed to helping children and young people and eager to develop an up-and-coming Children’s Service. The ideal candidate will have experience as a senior or team leader in residential childcare and is looking to progress. The successful candidate will be supported by an experienced management team to develop skills and knowledge to manage their own home within Eden Children Services as the company grows.
Eden Children Service is based in the Cuddington area where we have a home that provides care and therapeutic support for children and young people aged 8-17 years.
Key Duties:
* Deputise in the absence of the Home Manager
* Be actively involved in team development and training
* Supervise Therapeutic Support Workers
* Assist the Home Manager in day-to-day duties
* Assist in maintaining high standards of care
* Provide exceptional high levels of care when required
* Supervise staff on your shift line
* Assist with supervision
* Communicate effectively and build strong relationships that empower children and young people to grow and develop
* Ensure that the environment is safe, supportive, and enjoyable
* Help develop learning and social skills wherever possible
Skills and Qualifications:
We are looking for a highly motivated, hard-working, child-centred person who wants to make a genuine difference in the lives of the children and young people we work with. At least three years of previous experience in residential childcare, preferably in a similar role, and a Level 3 in Childcare is a must. You will require excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. You will work closely with the manager and may be required to produce reports, contact social workers, or manage and lead the staff team and young people. We are looking for the right person who is professional, caring, and has the right attitude. While the work is rewarding, it is also very challenging, and you must be able to work well under stress and in difficult situations.
Successful candidates must be:
* Willing to go the extra mile
* Ability to drive (company cars when on shift)
* Minimum three years’ experience in Residential Childcare
* Have a QCF Level 3 in Residential Childcare or equivalent and be prepared to do Level 5
* Ability to guide and encourage supportive independence when possible
* Able to support and supervise Therapeutic Support Workers within the home
* Excellent communication skills (in record keeping, with colleagues, and young people)
* Resilient under pressure and able to cope in stressful situations
* Have a creative and supportive approach to meet the needs of the children and young people
* Ability to work on a rota pattern including weekends and bank holidays
