Production Manager
Our client, a successful manufacturing business close to Norwich, is currently seeking a Production Manager to join their team. This is a full-time, permanent position, based in Norwich.
HOURS:
Basic hours 8:00am — 16:30pm Mon — Fri (lunch 1:00-1:30pm), but overtime hours worked are expected to be in line with Production. Due to seasonal variations within the business, these hours are regularly extended in the Winter, or may be reduced in the Summer.
KEY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
* Self-driven with a positive outlook, and a clear focus on high quality and business success.
* Resilient with a hands-on approach.
* Ability to work with bespoke software packages, in particular ERP and MRP.
* Able to spend one or two nights away per month if required.
* Must have a committed and flexible approach to working hours and to the additional hours.
* Must have a clean or near clean driving license.
* Able to understand basic business finance concepts and calculations.
* Well presented with an understanding of good business practices and ethics.
* Sufficiently mobile and flexible to occasionally travel to customers both within and outside the UK when required.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft packages — particularly Excel, Word, Internet, and email.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
General and Task Management
* Ensure production schedules are followed to meet company objectives.
* Design, prove, implement, and maintain production systems to deliver products on time.
* Drive continuous improvement activities in quality, cycle times, process improvement, and machine availability using lean techniques and value engineering.
* Analyse downtime, identify trends, and develop solutions for optimum utilisation and efficiency.
* Identify any production issues and resolve via root cause analysis.
* Ensure KPIs are met, including management and reporting.
* Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks within the facility.
People Management
* Co-manage and lead the team to ensure adequate staffing levels and effective management of holiday allowances, training, development, appraisal, attendance, and disciplinary issues.
* Monitor task completion and ensure good performance, recording appropriately.
* Review, implement, and update company policies.
* Lead the team in new product and process introductions.
* Foster a positive work environment and encourage continuous improvement.
Quality Control & Compliance
* Ensure all products meet company and regulatory quality standards.
* Maintain compliance with industry regulations, health, and safety standards.
JOB PURPOSE
Working alongside the Workshop Manager, this key role will be responsible for ensuring the efficient production of bespoke products safely, on time, cost-effectively, and to the high standards of quality our customers have come to expect.
HOLIDAYS:
24 days per annum (3 or 4 days to be taken over Christmas shut-down), plus public holidays.
