Job overview
We are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to work as qualified Nursery Nurses (6 full time positions available) on the Yorkshire and Humber Mother and Baby Unit, (CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Child Care and Education, BTEC National Diploma in Children's Care, Learning and Development or NVQ Level 3 in Children's Care, Learning and Development). This is a rare opportunity to work in a unique and specialised area of childcare. You will be supporting mothers with an acute mental illness being cared for in an inpatient mental health setting. Our mothers are cared for with their infants present on the ward bringing a significant number of challenges and rewards.
Main duties of the job
* Provide a supportive environment by ensuring the optimum health and social wellbeing of each mother and baby and facilitate a nurturing bond and secure attachment relationship.
* Work in collaboration with parents and multi-professionals to develop individualised programmes of care.
* Work with mothers in the last trimester of pregnancy, and up to a year following delivery, offering support with pregnancy and parenting.
* Work within the in-patient service on a rotational basis over a 24-hour period, facilitating identified sessions and supporting mother and infant on an individual and group basis.
* Occasional work with outpatients, offering support and advice relating to parenting.
* Work within this specialised area of mother and baby in-patient care, acting as identified Nursery Nurse for a group of infants.
* Participate in the sharing of knowledge to ensure the educational needs of other professionals are met.
* Keep up to date with relevant guidance and legislation specifically in relation to care of the infant.
* Keep up to date with all aspects of infant care/development and ensure it is accessible to the team within the resource area.
* Demonstrate an ability to work under direct/indirect supervision when carrying out individualised care packages.
* Maintain accurate care records for both mothers and babies.
* Develop, implement, and evaluate individualised plans of care for babies, which reflect their mothers care package.
* Take a lead with the Nursery Nurse team with all issues related to infant feeding to ensure the team is working in a consistent and co-ordinated way with support from Health Visitors and professionals.

Qualifications
* Current UK Nursery nurse qualification (CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Child Care and Education, BTEC National Diploma in Children's Care, Learning and Development or NVQ Level 3 in Children's Care, Learning and Development).
Experience
* An up-to-date awareness of infant development – specifically ages 0 – 12 months.
* Experience working with babies 0 -12 months.
* Experience developing individualized care plans / programs of care for infants.
Skills
* A working knowledge of mother / infant interaction and attachment.
