Job Title: Temporary Finance Assistant
Location: Workington
Duration: 2 months initially, with potential for extension
Hours:
1. Monday to Thursday: 8am - 4:30pm
2. Friday: 8am - 2:30pm
3. Part-time options available (e.g., school hours, fewer days)
Salary: £13 - £14 per hour
Overall Purpose of the Job
To provide comprehensive support to the Business Director by managing finance and administrative functions efficiently and contributing to the smooth operation of the finance office. As this position is within the Education sector, an Enhanced DBS will be required.
Duties and Responsibilities
Finance:
4. Purchase Orders and Invoices: Process purchase orders, receive delivered goods, and handle invoices.
5. Petty Cash Management: Control petty cash, ensure receipts for purchases, and maintain accurate records.
6. Cash Handling: Receipt, record, and securely store all cash received.
7. Filing Systems: Maintain filing systems to ensure records are audit-ready.
8. Financial Reporting: Assist the Business Director with producing financial reports.
9. Bank Reconciliation: Help with reconciling bank statements.
10. Budget Monitoring: Support budget monitoring activities.
11. Procedural Compliance: Ensure staff follow approved procedures for orders and authorization of purchases.
12. Invoice Processing: Ensure timely raising of invoices for services and monitor receipt of income.
13. Expense Claims: Process staff expense claims.
14. Asset and Inventory Management: Assist in creating and maintaining asset and inventory systems.
15. Trip Planning: Aid staff with financial planning for trips.
16. Stationery and Consumables: Order stationery and office consumables with the Administration Assistant.
17. Financial Systems Support: Assist with financial systems as needed.
Key Qualifications and Skills
18. Experience: Previous experience in a finance or administrative role preferred.
19. Skills: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in relevant software.
20. Communication: Good interpersonal and communication skills.
21. Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with different teams and departments.
22. Flexibility: Willingness to adapt to changing requirements and tasks.
