Testing Technician
The role is for a Testing Technician within our Shoreham-by-Sea based Testing Facility. You will be part of the team responsible for the day-to-day operation of various Testing Rigs for automotive components, ensuring customer expectations are managed in terms of quality, technical and timing.
Once initial training has been undertaken, you will be expected to operate with minimal supervision. You will be responsible for the day-to-day testing of various automotive parts and will be expected to work in a clean and tidy environment. You will be expected to understand the day-to-day validity of test results, quality control and maintaining the relevant lines of traceability. The candidate will report to the Testing Manager and Senior Technicians. Due to the nature of the work, the position may require extended hours working due to high demand.
MAIN TASKS
1. Day to day operation of various Testing Rigs
2. Installation and rigging of heat exchangers into the relevant test rigs
3. Modification of test rigs and piping systems to suit individual test requirements
4. Building test rigs to customers specifications.
5. Processing of test results in MS Excel, certificates, and labelling
6. Checking and pre-approval of test certificates prior to signatory sign-off
7. Liaison with other test and calibration personnel for priority tasks
8. Cleanliness of the laboratory, associated areas, fittings, and tools
9. Working unsupervised and in a timely and professional manner
10. Ensuring reference equipment is fit for purpose, calibrated and fully functional
11. Ensuring customer turnaround times are met
OTHER DUTIES
Additional to the main duties as set out above, you may also be required to undertake any of the following:
1. New reference equipment assessments and trials.
2. Development of the test rig software.
3. Improvement to processes and systems.
4. Supporting the Testing and Cleanroom teams.
5. Contributing to both quality and technical procedures.
6. Goods In / Out support
Applicant Minimum Requirements
Ideally the candidate will be educated to at least a high standard in Mathematics and a science subject and have at least 1 years’ experience in a workshop or laboratory environment.
Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
Ability to use and safely operate a variety of hand tools (spanners, screwdrivers, files, saws, grips, etc), power tools (drills, grinder, saws), electrical and shop air tools and calibration equipment.
Welding experience would be an advantage.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Meticulous attention to detail.
SALARY
£23,000 - £30,000 depending upon experience. The company operates a flexitime system and a discretionary profit-related bonus scheme.
