The successful (female only) applicant for this role will be working collaboratively with the other group facilitator, assessing for, continually reworking and providing a creative, body based group psychotherapy programme for women who are survivors of childhood sexual abuse.
They will be based at The Briars which has a lovely group room and beautiful grounds and part of a very supportive team.
Main duties of the job
The main duties include:
* Evaluation, assessment for, planning and provision of women's group programme
* Some supervision of staff providing 1:1 support for the programme
* 1:1 support for the existing men's Childhood Sexual Abuse programme
* Some training elements for other staff making referrals

Job responsibilities
Theprincipal purpose of the job is to improve the psychological health &wellbeing of people with a history of childhood sexual abuse
Thiswill be achieved in this post through undertaking the following areas ofresponsibility:
1.Carry out consults in specialist area of work withprofessionals wishing to make referrals, to determine suitability
2.Undertake independent specialist assessments of individualsand their needs, leading to advice and guidance for individuals and referrersas well as assessment of suitability for specialist interventions andcontribute to the development and review of risk management plans withprofessional colleagues.
3.Design and provide a groupwork model of PsychologicalTherapy to people with a history of childhood sexual abuse including anyindividual work that may be a part of that model.
4.Provide clinical supervision where appropriate in highlyspecialist area
5.Provide specialist advice and information toservice users, their family members and carers
6.Provide information and providetraining to colleagues within DPT in relation to the model of therapyand the suitability of service users to take part in a model of trauma therapyfor people with a history of childhood sexual abuse

Communication and WorkingRelationship Skills
* Clients, family and carers: To communicate in a highly skilled andsensitive manner with clients who may have specific difficulties inunderstand and/or communicating and who may be hostile, antagonistic orhighly emotionally disturbed.
* Multidisciplinary team colleagues: To work closely with colleagues in themulti-professional integrated mental health and wellbeing service on a dayto day basis.
* Health & social care staff: To communicate with a wide range ofhealth & social care staff in hospital and in community settings in ahighly skilled and sensitive manner, complex and sensitive informationconcerning the assessment, formulation and treatment plans of clients underthe services care. To provide support & guidance in the application ofpsychological principles and techniques, and to foster reflective practice.
* Senior managers & professional staff: To maintain and build good workingrelationships with senior professional staff and managers across thePsychology and Therapy service and in DPT to foster a positive approach tothe integrated mental health and wellbeing service and to enable effectivenegotiation.
Analytical and Judgemental Skills
* Toprovide specialist psychological therapy expertise and advice to people with ahistory of childhood sexual abuse within PPT.
* Toprovide psychological therapies, developing specialist psychologicalformulations and assessments of clients, offering specialist assessments of individuals and theirneeds, leading to advice and guidance for individuals and referrers as wellas assessment of suitability for specialist interventions, formulating plans for their psychological treatmentand implementing psychological interventions for people with a history ofchildhood sexual abuse as individuals and in groups.
* Undertake risk assessments anddevelop a formulation of risk which will contribute to the development ofrisk management plans with professional colleagues as appropriate. Ensure the continuous re-evaluation ofindividuals needs and clinical risk situations and use clinical judgement toformulate the most appropriate clinical plan, with professional colleagues asappropriate.
* Toprovide specialist clinical therapies expertise and advice.
Planning and Organisational Skills
* Theservice: To plan and prioritiseown workload, balancing the demands ofindividual care, support and guidance of carers and professionalsand service research and development activities.
* Tocontribute to the planning and organising of the delivery ofpsychological trauma therapies within Devon Partnership NHS Trust and to contribute to the development andimprovement of provision ofpsychological therapy for people with a history of childhood sexualabuse within services to best meetthe organisations strategy and priorities.
* Themultidisciplinary service: Toprovide trauma therapy model Psychological Therapies knowledge to themulti-professional planning, development and marketing of mental health andwellbeing services.
Responsibilityfor Patient/Client Care, Treatment and Therapy
* Assessment& intervention:.To make highly skilled evaluations and decisions about assessment,treatment and discharge, including the management of risk. To formulateplans for psychological therapy and implement specialist psychologicalinterventions for women as individuals and groups, and to demonstrateawareness of diversity issues.
* Consultation& guidance: Toprovide specialist advice, guidance and consultation on psychologicaltherapy aspects of individual care to people with a history of childhoodsexual abuse to colleagues and otherservice providers.
Responsibility for Policy andService Development Implementation
* Thepost holder is responsible for their own professional actions, actingwithin Trust policies and procedures and Professional Practice Guidelines,working within clearly defined occupational procedures utilise theory, evidence-based literatureand research to support evidence based practice in individual work withinthe PPT and local mental health services.
* To support project work including specificareas of audit, research or service evaluation as appropriate
* As a clinician to be responsible forcollecting clinical practice and outcome data that contributes to buildingpractice based evidence and service evaluation.

Leadership & supervision:
1. To clinically supervise the work of lessexperienced psychological therapy practitioners, trainees and assistants asrequired.
2. To provide training as required and continuingprofessional development in therapies/ treatments for people with a history of childhood sexual abuse.

* To work autonomously withinthe code of conduct and professional guidelines and ensure governance isembedded within PPT. Implement policies in conjunction with peers, Head ofProfession and General Manager.
* To provide specialistexpertise and guidance and consultation on psychological aspects of patientcare to other service providers, clients, supporters and families
Any Other Specific Tasks Required
* To contribute to ensuring all clinicalcare and treatment provided by Psychological therapists is carried out under appropriatesupervision and leadership.
* To contribute to ensuring that allPsychological therapists continuously update the skills and techniquesrelevant to their clinical work.

Skills and abilities
* Excellent verbal, nonverbal and written communication skills
* Ability to integrate complex data; make evaluations formulations and decisions
* Organisation and time management skills
* Ability to work independently within defined occupational procedures and use initiative working with people with a history of childhood sexual abuse
* Ability to work as a member of a clinical team.
* Ability to tolerate ambiguity, and maintain own morale and motivation in challenging service delivery contexts.
* Small -scale project management
Qualifications
* Psychological Therapists need to be trained to masters level or equivalent in a specific psychological therapy and registered with an appropriate recognised professional body e.g. UKCP, BABCP. BACP or other relevant PSA accredited body Or Qualified Clinical or Counselling Psychologist (D.Clin.Psychol. or equivalent) and eligible for Chartered Clinical or Counselling Psychologist Status in the British Psychological Society and Registered with HCPC.
* Further training in specialist area
Knowledge
* Knowledge and familiarity of specialist services; and of the services in the NHS where psychology and psychological therapies is commonly applied.
* An in-depth understanding of providing psychological therapy for people presenting with Complex trauma experiences
* Knowledge of Trauma Interventions and Trauma Informed Practice
Physical Skills
* Presentable
* Calm, methodical approach, friendly but concise
* Good communication skills when presenting / facilitating to varying groups of people
Experience
* Experience of working in specialist area
* Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across a wide range of care settings, including community, and in-patient settings.
* Experience, and/or training in diversity awareness and social inequality
* Experience gained during supervised training in working with people with a history of childhood sexual abuse
