Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen in our friendly department for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to work as a Trainee Senior Pharmacy Dispensary Assistant. This is a permanent full-time position at 37.5 hours per week.
The post will be awarded a Band 3 Annex 21 salary for the duration of the apprenticeship, which will be a minimum of 12 months. On successful completion, this post will progress to entry-level Band 3 on the NHS Agenda for Change pay scale.
Minimum Requirements
To apply for this position you must:
* Be educated in GCSE Mathematics and English at grade 4 or above, or the equivalent qualifications.
* You may already hold or be prepared to undertake the Pharmacy Services Assistant Level 2 apprenticeship.
* Be able to maintain dispensary competence.
* Be prepared to deal with queries both face to face and over the phone.
* Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be organised, and have a keen attention to detail.
* You must also have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team and be able to adapt to changing demands in order to be committed to providing a high quality service.
* Previous pharmacy experience would be preferred but is not essential as full training will be provided.
Main duties of the job
As a Trainee Senior Pharmacy Dispensary Assistant, you will work within the Dispensary gaining valuable experience and expanding your own pharmaceutical knowledge.
We will support you in completing the Pharmacy Services Assistant Level 2 apprenticeship, providing you with the necessary training and development opportunities and giving you an extra qualification.
The variety and diversity of working in the Dispensary and providing cover for the Stores & Distribution team will allow you to gain a well-rounded understanding of the pharmacy workflow. You will also get to expand your expertise in Controlled Drugs and Clinical Trial dispensing.
Participation in the weekend and bank holiday rota is essential.

Qualifications
* GCSE C or above in Mathematics & English Language or equivalent
* Level 2 qualification in Pharmacy Services or equivalent
Experience
* Competent computer skills, able to use Microsoft Office or equivalent
* Experience of labelling and dispensing using CMM

* Evidence of experience in lifting and handling training
