Job Description:
Leonardo Helicopters are currently recruiting for a Test Instrumentation Engineer, to work in our Structural Test Laboratory in Yeovil. As the Test Instrumentation Engineer, you will provide support the Structural Test Laboratory with all aspects of electrical, electronic and instrumentation needed to perform testing. The Structural Test Laboratory performs critical strength testing of new aircraft designs and modifications required for Civil and Military certification in order to demonstrate the strength and fatigue life of the aircraft structure and components.
Please note this role is a JFF Level 5/6 (Engineering.)
1. Providing electrical and electronic support to the structural test laboratory
2. Manage the electrical design of the test rigs, including manufacture of specific cable installations as necessary to integrate different test equipment
3. To develop and support the instrumentation activities within the department and provide advice to other departments
4. To provide stain gauge specification support to the Structural Test Laboratory and Design departments
5. To support and maintain the electrical equipment specific to the Structural Test Department
6. You are responsible for taking reasonable care of your own health and safety and ensuring personal working practices confirm to the Company Health & Safety Policy in the Test Laboratory (specific responsibilities are detailed within HSP1015).
7. Degree in a relevant subject (e.g. electrical or electronic engineering) or HNC/HND/BTEC and Apprenticeship together with suitable experience and a strong desire to work in an area of Engineering with a practical aspect
8. Experience in test instrumentation (instrumentation definition, types of instrumentation, installation, calibrations)
9. Understanding of strain gauges, their application and usage is desirable
10. Ability to understand Technical Drawings
11. Experience in electrical circuitry design (28V and below)
12. Knowledge in the use of computer based design tools (Easy CAD, AutoCAD, etc)
13. PLC design knowledge is desirable
14. Knowledge of programming languages is desirable (Arduino, C++, Python etc)
15. Flexible attitude with willingness and ability to work both alone and in a team environment is essential
16. Full driving license
17. IT literate
