An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic newly registered nurses to join our team. We are a supportive and dynamic team providing specialised care for patients within the Protected Elective Surgical Unit (PESU) at the University Hospital of Wales. PESU plays a vital role of optimising care and outcomes of patients who are undergoing major surgery through the elective stream. We care for a wide range of patients, encompassing Colorectal, Upper GI, Liver, Maxilla Facial, ENT and Ophthalmology, Urology and Spinal surgery. This combination of specialities will give you an extensive range of surgical nursing skills, which is unlike anywhere else.
Main duties of the job
Adult Nurse
We work closely with specialist, medical, nursing, pharmacy and dietetic teams to deliver holistic care to our patients. Working here will provide an excellent experience in acute surgical nursing of this complex group of patients. You will develop in caring for patients who require specialist nursing skills which will lay the foundations of your nursing career. The skills you will learn are transferable across the care spectrum, due to the variety of patients you will encounter. You will experience working closely with the multidisciplinary team and develop excellent communication, clinical skills and knowledge. Within the Surgical Directorate at the University Hospital of Wales (UHW) we are committed to supporting new staff and offer a 4-week supernummary induction period for newly registered Nurses with added bespoke study days organised and run by our Professional Practice Development Team. We thrive on developing and nurturing our staff, and are always happy to go the extra mile to help you reach your potential.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post. English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
