POSITION SCOPE
To support the optimisation and technical improvement of Plaistow Wharf operations - across both the process & packaging departments. To identify improvement opportunities, provide solutions, and then project manage through to completion. To stand in for the Process Team Manager during holiday/absence as required.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Assist in managing the technical and plant-related aspects of Safety, Hygiene, Environment, and Quality consistent with T&LS procedures and targets to achieve continuous improvement and to meet legislative and regulatory compliance.
2. Development & optimization of systems to measure key plant technical performance and output quality standards focusing on Operational Excellence & Sustainability initiatives.
3. Identify projects to enhance safety, de-bottleneck and improve technical performance/reduce costs.
4. Manage medium-sized projects and be the key site contact for technical or engineering-related projects.
5. Facilitate and support driving Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement culture.
DESIRED WORK EXPERIENCES
1. Experience in a similar food or manufacturing sector or good chemical engineering understanding (fluids etc.).
2. Knowledge of safety management systems such as risk assessment, safety auditing, permits to work etc.
3. Demonstrated examples of using CI tools.
4. Good technical understanding of process flows and unit operations.
5. Good interpersonal skills with the ability to influence.
6. Ability to work through complex situations with minimum referral to manager.
7. Good at working as part of a team and as an individual.
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
1. Educated to degree level, preferably in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
