Rochdale Council have an exciting opportunity a passionate community safety professional to join our fast-paced team as Community Safety Officers. Whilst relevant experience is preferable, it is not essential. We will develop the successful candidate as part of our continuous professional development offer. You will join our dynamic Community Safety & Resilience Service and work closely with key partners of the Rochdale Safer Communities Partnership (RSCP), such as Greater Manchester Police, to help reduce crime and anti-social behaviour. Under the direction of our team manager, you will lead and coordinate crime and anti-social behaviour prevention/reduction work, activities, seasonal campaign, days of action and legal action to support the achievement of our community safety priorities. About you: You will have detailed knowledge of statutory duties with respect to community safety under the provisions of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 and the legal powers available to the Council, and its partners, under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014. You will provide a flexible investigative and problem solving approach to tackling crime and anti-social behaviour across the borough. You will have experience in evidence gathering techniques, including interviewing of victims, witnesses and perpetrators and preparation of statements and case files to successfully obtain civil antisocial behaviour orders. You will coordinate partnership meetings focussed on anti-social behaviour and related crime & disorder (including young people), dealing with the threat, risk and harm to local communities and local people, identifying & safeguarding vulnerable individuals through collaborative problem solving. You will have excellent interpersonal skills, a positive attitude and a thorough approach to your work. The post holder will work from the Partnership Hub at Rochdale Police Station and will access police data, information and intelligence. The post holder must therefore satisfy Greater Manchester Police vetting processes prior to commencement of employment. Our Community Safety & Resilience Service operates between the award winning Number One Riverside council building and Rochdale Police Station as well as other locations across the borough as required. The role will occasionally consist of early morning, evening and weekend working dependent on operational need. The role will also require you to drive RBC vehicles therefore you must be able to drive independently throughout the borough.
