We are currently seeking to recruit an experienced Welding Engineer to join our Power & Controls Strategic Business Unit of Collins Aerospace, based in Wolverhampton.
The Role:
The Welding Engineer will ensure compliance with welding processes and procedures. Reporting to the Special Process Manager, the Welding Engineer will be part of the Quality team, responsible for NADCAP compliance and customer 3rd party audits. The role also involves metallurgical laboratory activities, analysis, development of new products, and supporting customer investigations.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Technical responsibility for welding across the organization
2. Development and control of welding procedures
3. Qualifying and maintaining welder certification
4. Championing audit compliance, including NADCAP and customer accreditation
5. Participating in and implementing Technology Development Plans for new welding and joining technologies, including robotic welding
6. Involvement in Design for Manufacture assessments and design reviews
7. Conducting metallurgical analysis for weld certification and welder qualification
8. Providing training and technical support to Welding Operators
9. Leading RRCA investigations and supporting corrective actions
10. Driving continuous improvement activities to enhance efficiency
Essential Qualifications:
* Extensive experience related to welding and technical expertise
* Proven track record in NADCAP accreditation compliance
* Familiarity with aerospace or similar quality assurance systems like ISO9000 or AS9100
* Motivated, adaptable, responsive to change, and able to remain calm under pressure
* Effective management, technical discussion leadership, and commitment delivery skills
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical reporting to Senior Leadership
* Leadership qualities and ability to collaborate across departments
* Experience with internal and external quality audits is advantageous
Preferred Qualifications:
* International Welding Engineer (IWE) / European Welding Engineer (EWE) qualification
* Previous metallurgical experience
