GSL Education are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to support pupils with special educational needs in a nurturing school environment in Andover. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about inclusive education and are eager to make a lasting difference in pupils' academic and emotional development.
About the Role:
In this rewarding role, you will provide essential one-to-one and small group support to students with a range of needs, such as autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver targeted support in line with pupils’ EHCPs and individual learning plans.
* Encourage engagement in learning and help pupils build confidence and independence.
* Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that promotes mutual respect.
* Assist with the preparation and adaptation of lesson resources and classroom tasks.
* Monitor and record pupil progress, communicating updates with staff and families.
* Support the emotional well-being and behaviour management of pupils.
* Uphold safeguarding practices and ensure student welfare at all times.
Job Requirements:
* Prior experience working with pupils with SEN in school or care settings is essential.
* Understanding of SEN conditions, intervention strategies, and inclusive teaching practices.
* A calm, nurturing, and patient personality with strong interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals.
* A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or SEN-specific training is desirable.
* Strong awareness of safeguarding and behaviour management policies.
* Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
