GSL Education are seeking a dedicated SEN Teacher to join a specialist school in Wareham, providing high-quality education for students with Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, Speech and Language Difficulties, and other complex learning needs.
About The Role:
This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a nurturing and structured SEN environment, where you will have the opportunity to shape the learning experiences of students with diverse needs. You will be responsible for delivering a tailored curriculum, ensuring that every child receives the necessary support to progress academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan and deliver differentiated lessons that cater to the individual needs of SEN students.
* Develop and implement EHCPs (Education, Health & Care Plans) to support personalised learning.
* Use a variety of specialist teaching strategies, including visual aids, assistive technology, and sensory integration techniques.
* Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment where students can thrive.
* Collaborate with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, therapists, and other professionals to deliver a multi-disciplinary approach.
* Regularly assess student progress and adjust learning plans accordingly.
* Build strong partnerships with parents, carers, and external professionals, ensuring open communication regarding student progress.
* Uphold safeguarding policies to maintain a secure and supportive learning space.
Requirements of the SEN Teacher:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
* Previous experience working within an SEN setting or supporting children with additional needs in a mainstream school.
* Strong understanding of SEN strategies, EHCPs, and behaviour management approaches.
* Ability to implement multi-sensory and adaptive teaching methods to support diverse learning needs.
* Excellent classroom management skills, with a patient and empathetic approach.
* Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, liaising with specialists and families.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
