As part of our great team here at Daimler Truck, we have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Accountant to join us. This role is perfect if you’re looking to have broad accountabilities to ensure full coverage of critical daily and monthly Accounting tasks.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
Working within the Finance and Controlling (F&C) Team will include:
1. Being responsible for the posting of manual Accounting entries to both the general ledger and the sub ledgers (Accounts Receivables and Payables) for daily and month-end tasks with guidance from the Transactional Accountant and Financial Reporting Accountant.
2. Being responsible for the execution of the daily Accounting Services transactions. Tasks include (i) preparing, validating and processing BACS payment runs for Customers, Dealer Partners and Suppliers, (ii) ad-hoc payments via CHAPS and Faster Payments, (iii) upload, verification and reconciliation of the daily bank statement. Booking of incoming payments, failed direct debit collections, etc.
3. Being responsible for making payments via the GTS (Global Treasury System) system.
4. Ownership of the maintenance of the Business Partner records in SAP for suppliers, the maintenance of the approval workflows (Fiori) in line with procurement guidelines. Check the accuracy of account coding and support the wider business in resolving supplier queries to allow timely payment to suppliers.
5. Managing the processing of non-productive / ad-hoc receivables requested by the business via the Fiori workflow tool and provide guidance / support to the non-Finance colleagues in relation to procurement matters.
6. Processing employee expenses claims, ensuring claims are compliant with the Company expenses policy. Provide assistance to resolve queries from colleagues from the wider business.
7. Work as part of a team within the finance department to support the achievement of the teams goals and objectives. Provide mentoring and guidance to the Finance Apprentice, a role primarily supporting the Assistant Accountant.
8. Collaborate effectively and provide accounting guidance to the Customer Operations and Collection teams to ensure ad-hoc customer transactions (e.g. CHAPS payments, Faster payments refunds) are handled in a timely way to maintain high level of customer satisfaction.
9. Monitor all Intercompany Payable and Receivable accounts, establishing controls that identify issues early. Work to resolve issues by liaising with the relevant counterparty contacts, escalating to management when appropriate.
10. Prepare the month-end Intercompany balance confirmations for all counterparties of DTFS UK for agreement and sign-off.
This is just an example of the areas you will be involved with as you work as part of the team to support the achievement of the Finance department’s goals and objectives, ensuring all critical accounting tasks are adequately covered.

Qualifications

You may have all/some of these skills:
1. AAT qualified or ACCA/CIMA or equivalent foundation or intermediate level student.
2. Good Working Knowledge of Excel and SAP.
3. Ability to work under pressure to achieve results. Flexibility and ability to multi-task.
4. Possess analytical, investigation and strong reconciliation skills.
5. Good time-management with own responsibility to plan and prioritise workload.
6. Deadline driven – getting the result in a manner in line with company behavioural values.
7. Effective communicator to both Finance and non-Finance personnel at all levels.
8. Professional attitude with good inter-personal skills and a strong team player.
