We are seeking a conscientious and empathetic candidate to work within our highly experienced Bereavement Services team. This job provides a professional and friendly service to families, industry professionals, and the general public across Redditch Borough and Bromsgrove District Councils and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
1. Administrational duties across the service, based in the office ensuring all paperwork and enquiries are dealt with efficiently. This includes processing cremation and burial documentation, liaising with funeral directors and medical referees, managing memorial enquiries, and any other project or task work required.
2. Chapel duties; ensuring each funeral service has a professional and well-maintained environment, carrying out all relevant ID, music, and tribute checks with funeral directors and ministers respectively.
3. Attending burials, scattering, and family appointments on behalf of the authority. Ensuring a professional service is maintained for its users as well as being on hand to help family members who may have further queries.
4. Cremating; if not already qualified, then you will be willing to undertake relevant training to obtain the FBCA TEST qualification, ensuring dignity and respect is always maintained in line with the FBCA Code of Conduct. You will also be responsible when on the relevant cremation shift to ensure all machinery and ancillary equipment is maintained to the highest standards.
The successful candidate may not have specific qualifications within Bereavement or similar fields but must have a good work ethic, empathy, and professionalism.
It is essential that the successful candidate is flexible and able to work 5-day working patterns including being part of a rota for weekend and bank holiday working. Operational service hours are from 7am through to 7pm but can differ depending on service demand.
