Teaching Fellow Posts in Medicine - UNDERGRADUATE MEDICAL EDUCATION
There is a fantastic job opportunity coming up at Northwick Park Hospital starting August 2025 for an initial period of 1 year (negotiable and extendable subject to performance). This post includes responsibilities for teaching undergraduates and offers clinical opportunities if desired. The job provides the candidate the opportunity to obtain a Certificate in Medical Education (requires separate application).
Depending on the interests of the successful applicant, the clinical training & research will take place within Northwick Park Hospital LNWH Trust.
The post holder will be expected to spend at least 75% of their contracted time helping to develop, co-ordinate, and deliver a high standard of clinical teaching to the medical students, with the remainder of their time dedicated to clinical work & research.
The number of students varies throughout the year (see the “timetable/grand plan” below), and at times, there may be greater teaching commitments. Conversely, during June & July, there may be fewer commitments, allowing the Teaching Fellow to devote more time to research & clinical work. Thus, flexibility and initiative are essential.
Accountability
The teaching component of the posts will be accountable to Dr. Jaita Mukherjee and Dr. Chima Oti. The clinical and research components will be accountable to the appropriate consultant physician or surgeon. Day-to-day reporting will be with the Undergraduate Education Manager, Mrs. Monika Srubkowska.
Teaching Commitment
The teaching will involve a range of activities such as tutorials, skills laboratory, bedside teaching, and dedicated teaching clinics on an outpatient basis. Time is allocated for preparation of tutorials, lectures, and teaching materials such as handouts. The teaching fellow will also be encouraged to show initiative and develop other teaching ideas such as student case presentations and student grand rounds.
