A leading UK superyacht management company is seeking an experienced Fleet Manager DPA/CSO due to growth in the managed fleet.
Operating as part of the yacht management department, the Fleet Manager will work directly with the company’s clients, yacht Captains and yacht Owners and their representatives, along with multiple colleagues within the organisation. The role would suit a candidate already working within a similar role in yachting, or a candidate transitioning from the commercial or cruise sector.
The Fleet Manager is responsible for the following:
□ Fulfil the role of Company DPA/CSO
□ Attending vessels as company Lead Auditor managing the audit team as required.
□ Schedule audits and inspections as required and manage the audit schedule with the vessel management team.
□ Oversee the monitoring the safety and environmental/pollution prevention aspects of the vessel operations and ensure that adequate resources and shore based support is provided as required;
□ Ensuring the validity of vessel compliance including both Class and Flag certification
□ Management of the vessel management team including the day-to-day maintenance and monitoring of the Safety Management System and all required vessel specific documentation; □ In the role of DPA/CSO monitor changes to legislation and best practices;
□ Oversee the monitoring, recording and overseeing of observations, NCRs, accident reports, near misses, on-board management meeting minutes, hours of rest;
□ Oversee the monitoring and recording and close out of defect reports;
□ Liaising directly with Flag Administrations and Classification Societies in relation to communication of observations, NCRs, accident reports, near misses;
□ Co-ordinating surveys and audits with Flag Administrations and Classification Societies, as required;
□ Oversee/support the vessel management team work closely with the Captain to ensure the effective control of all documents and information;
□ Responsible for the monitoring of SMS complete an annual review of the system making changes as necessary to ensure the system remains up to date and in line with industry practices for the continuous development of the system.
This is an office-based role with travel. The companies preference is to hire a candidate local to the North East of the UK although a relocation package is available for an outstanding candidate.
