Excellent written and spoken communication skills are key in order to be able to deal with any request in the most appropriate and timely manner. Experience would be ideal, but either way you will be part of an experienced and supportive team, and ongoing training is regularly provided.

Main Duties of the Job
Our practice receptionists are responsible for undertaking a wide range of administrative and reception duties, including the provision of general support to the clinical multidisciplinary team. Duties can include, but are not limited to, greeting and signposting patients to the appropriate healthcare professional or service (care navigation), patient registration, booking appointments, processing of information (electronic and hard copy) and assisting patients as required. You will act as the central point of contact for patients, the distribution of information, messages and enquiries for the clinical team, liaising with multidisciplinary team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers.
Job Responsibilities
The main duties of the role are as follows:
1. Process and effectively signpost patients to the appropriate healthcare professional depending on the presenting condition
2. Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers' requests appropriately
3. Process patient requests for appointments
4. Process repeat prescription requests
5. Initiate contact with and respond to requests from patients, team members and external agencies
6. Enter read-code data on to the clinical database
7. Photocopy documentation as required
8. Data entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as required
9. Input data into the patients' healthcare records as necessary
10. Scan patient-related documentation and attach scanned documents to patients' healthcare records
11. Direct requests for information, e.g. SAR, insurance/solicitors letters and DVLA forms, to the administrative team
12. Manage all queries as necessary in an efficient manner
13. Carry out system searches as requested
14. Support administrative staff, providing cover during staff absences
15. Complete opening and closing procedures in accordance with the duty rota
16. Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times
17. Monitor and maintain the reception area and noticeboards
18. Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested

* Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
