Messaging Engineer
Location: Stevenage
Responsibilities
Exchange
1. Managing Exchange servers, including mailbox databases, connectors, and transport rules.
2. Configuring and troubleshooting mail flow, mailbox permissions, and distribution groups.
3. Monitoring and optimizing Exchange server performance and security.
Skype
1. Supporting Skype for Business services, including setup, configuration, and troubleshooting.
2. Managing user accounts, presence, and conferencing features.
3. Integrating Skype with Exchange and other collaboration tools.
Blackberry
1. Providing Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES) administration and support.
2. Configuring and troubleshooting Blackberry devices and services.
3. Ensuring Blackberry services integrate effectively with messaging platforms.
Incident and Problem Management
1. Responding to and resolving escalated incidents related to messaging and collaboration tools.
2. Performing root cause analysis for recurring issues and implementing preventive measures.
3. Collaborating with other IT teams and vendors to resolve complex technical problems.
Security and Compliance
1. Implementing and enforcing security policies and controls for messaging platforms.
2. Participating in security audits and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
3. Monitoring for and responding to security incidents related to messaging systems.
4. Patching and upgrades of Exchange and Skype systems.
5. Capacity Management Reporting.
6. Attending Bi-Weekly Engineering meetings providing progress updates on tasks in progress.
7. Ensure server builds adhere to Fujitsu and customer standards for all areas of work undertaken.
8. Attend account and Fujitsu sites when required to ensure deliverables are completed within timescales.
9. Raise immediately any risks, issues that may impact costs, delivery to timescales, or overall solution deployments.
10. Assist in testing activities.
11. Raise change requests and present those at both Fujitsu and account change boards where required.
Your Transferable Skills and Experience
Technical - Desired
1. Proven experience in administering Microsoft Exchange (2013/2016/2019) and Skype for Business.
2. Familiarity with Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES) administration (desired).
3. Strong understanding of email protocols, such as SMTP, IMAP, and POP.
4. Experience with email archiving solutions and compliance requirements.
5. Knowledge of Active Directory integration with messaging systems.
6. Knowledge of VMware (to the extent of working with VM Payloads) with NetApp SAN and Cohesity backups.
An Advantage, or as Applicable
1. Microsoft Teams.
2. Automation of regular BAU processes.
Experience and Soft Skills
1. Knowledge of Fujitsu build standards.
