Construction Demathieu & Bard (CDB) Inc. is the Canadian subsidiary of Demathieu Bard, a company based in France with over 160 years of experience in the construction industry, and has been operating in Canada since 1997. CDB specializes in major infrastructure construction and rehabilitation and is known for its innovative, complex construction methodologies and adaptability when undertaking challenging projects. As the general contractor, construction manager, and/or project manager, CDB continues to successfully deliver complex and challenging projects, particularly heavy infrastructure projects such as bridges, canals, dams, tunnels, culverts and viaducts.

Job Summary
Reporting to the Vice President of Ontario, as the technical / proposal writer you will support Construction Demathieu & Bard’s estimating team and be responsible for preparation and submission of project proposals, as well as gathering content, writing, and proofreading other technical documents.
Responsibilities
* Review Request for Proposal (RFP) or Request for Qualifications (RFQ) requirements and summarize submission requirements in a proposal matrix.
* Closely work with Estimators and Project Managers through the proposal development process to generate engineering/construction based technical content.
* Interview staff to produce or update CVs and profile sheets for construction projects.
* Build strong relationships with other staff members.
* Outline, write, proof-read, and edit qualification and bid documents and other proposal materials.
* Be responsible for proposal layout, formatting, and proposal templates.
* Coordinate, schedule and submit proposals on time.
* Coordinate proposal process and review discussions with internal team members and external project partners.
* Update the company’s reference bank (CVs, project sheets, narratives, etc.).
* Synthesize proposal documents into final package for submission to clients, checking for compliance with submission requirements.
* Assemble previously submitted proposals and content in a repository for future reference.
* Assist the Estimating team with tasks such as contacting subcontractors to request quotations.
* Follow-up and document areas of improvement for proposals.
* Other proposal-oriented duties as required.
Qualifications required
Education and Experience
* College diploma or bachelor’s degree in relevant area (English, Media Writing, Communications, Journalism).
* Proven experience working with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
* Experience with Adobe Photoshop or equivalent image editing software considered an asset.
* At least 2 years of technical writing experience preferably in construction industry with an emphasis on publicly procured, qualifications-based delivery projects.
Certifications / licenses
* Valid Driver’s license, access to vehicle.

Work Conditions
* Office work environment.
* Openness to a flexible schedule, up to 50 hours a week.
* After the probationary period (3 months), remote hybrid option of 3 required days in office per week.
* Occasional site visits / travel for proposal submissions.
