Here at One YMCA we are currently recruiting for x2 Chefs to join us on an initial 12 month FTC. Your primary focus is to provide high quality catering services within all areas of the site, whilst also providing support to residents as part of the wider housing team. Our residents have a variety of support needs, including mental health issues, offenders, and family breakdown, alcohol, and drug dependency issues.
The Catering Manager and Chefs are responsible for the catering operation in accordance with business requirements, YMCA standards and statutory regulations as part of a high quality housing service within Charter House (250-bed hostel comprising a mix of 150 social housing beds and 100-bed Steiner Student Accommodation).
We are responsible for developing a strong and successful relationship between the catering staff team and suppliers, bringing out the best in each other. This service recognises and respects the different values, backgrounds, ideas and experience of all team members and Service Users.
The Role:
• Support the Catering Manager with reviewing and planning catering services
• Act as liaison between the Catering Manager and Staff, monitoring performance to ensure operational and service standards are met.
• Work towards and achieve the agreed Key Performance Indicators and performance objectives and ensure a high level of service is provided at all times.
• Work with the Catering Manager to develop a catering service which provides a positive contribution to the health and wellbeing of all services users (residents and Steiner students).
• Ensuring that legal and internal requirements are adhered to in respect of Hygiene, Health & Safety, and Food Safety Law for all staff and service users.
• Ensuring food is prepared, produced, presented and served at correct service times, with YMCA’s standards and to agreed specification.
• Assume total responsibility of the Catering Service in the Catering Manager’s absence.
Requirements:
• Knowledge and experience of cooking for 200+ covers daily, 365 days per year
• First Aid Certificate or willingness to undertake training
• Knowledge of different dietary requirements, diabetic, intolerances, gluten etc
• Good supervisory skills, including dealing with difficult situations, coaching and mentoring staff
*Hours: You’ll work 28 hours per week Monday to Friday however we are willing to provide flexible working arrangements.*
