We are now seeking a passionate, driven Fibre Process Engineer to join our dynamic team.
Role Overview:
As a Manufacturing Engineer, this role sits in the Operations Engineering Team to support the daily output of fibre laser products in a Manufacturing environment. In this role you will learn the products and processes in a manufacturing line focusing on fibre components and processing of fibre. The role will include the requirement to support manufacturing with fault finding investigations, training, and identifying improvement opportunities.
This role is a 12 month FTC (Fixed Term Contract) working on the Southampton site for 5 days per week. Due to the nature of this role hybrid working wouldn’t work due to requiring access to onsite equipment and resources.
Key Responsibilities:
* Working within a team to provide daily support of manufacturing cells to sustain and improve product output requirements.
* Ensure that all supporting documentation of the manufacturing line is up to date.
* Look for and implement solutions to meet targets for yield, productivity and on time delivery.
* Supporting the implementation and further development of leading-edge lean manufacturing methodologies and techniques (incl. TRUMPF Synchro toolbox).
* Assist in the Training of operators on new products, processes, and equipment.
* Support the activities of data analysis and reporting of data for KPI’s (OTD, Yield, Scrap, OEE, SPC etc.).
* Assist with the activities of NPI projects to ensure that design and process requirements for manufacturing are met.
About You:
We are looking for a proactive, enthusiastic graduate with a passion for engineering and a strong interest in fibre technologies. You will be eager to learn, adaptable to change, and confident in working both independently and as part of a team.
Essential Requirements:
* Degree qualified in an appropriate Engineering or Science discipline, or demonstrably equivalent through experience and alternative technical qualifications.
* A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing engineering role with exposure to lean manufacturing including value stream mapping, structured problem solving (A3, 8D, DMAIC), Six Sigma, SPC and Advanced Product Quality Planning.
* Demonstrable ability to gather and analyse data regarding design and manufacturing capability.
* Experience of PFMEA and the implementation of robust control plans.
* Good IT skills – particularly in Excel. Ideally able to do SQL query writing.
* In depth knowledge of the management of health and safety at work.
* 5S implementation.
Desirable:
* Experience of Leader Standard Work.
* Experience of TPM.
* Hold NEBOSHH National General Certificate in Health and Safety.
* Six Sigma green belt.
* Implementation of takt continuous process flow.
* Experience of OEE.
* Experience of Capacity planning.
* Experience of Gage R&R.
