About Defra Group Property
We deliver a range of property services on behalf of Defra Group and its partner organisations. These activities range in scale and complexity across circa 300 property holdings, from offices to laboratories. Our core function is commercial property management, including facilities management and workplace services, but we also undertake projects encompassing new builds, refurbishments, refits, life cycle replacement works and everything else in between. We are currently recruiting 2 full time posts (Civil Service Jobs reference number 387767) and 1 part time post, up to a maximum of 16 hours per week (Civil Service Jobs reference number 388667)
Your Role with us
In the Corporate Property Team, you will manage a dedicated portfolio of property matters and be responsible for ensuring the Department fulfils its obligations as owner and occupier of property, whilst collaborating closely with the facilities management team. Your role will involve advising on property matters and supporting the business functions through successful negotiation and completion of property transactions.
This role forms an important part of optimising the management of Defra’s property portfolio, ensuring it meets strategic goals and delivers maximum business benefits.
As a key player in corporate real estate, you will gain valuable insights into how property management impacts the broader organisational landscape, contributing to an influential organisation which exercises significant influence over the world we live in and make the UK a great place to live.
General Responsibilities:
• Support the Principal Corporate Property Surveyors.
• Manage a specific portfolio of property matters.
• Provide property advice and transaction management in alignment with the property strategy and estate management best practices.
• Offer professional guidance to Defra Group businesses.
• Assist in delivering specialist advice and assurance in accordance with legislation and best practices.
• Share expertise to enhance organizational knowledge and capabilities.
• Collaborate with colleagues across the Defra Group and other government bodies.
• Commission, supervise, and manage external property advisors.
Who we are looking for
You will deliver expert property advice and oversee transactions and estate management tasks to ensure the Defra Group operates smoothly and effectively. Ideally you will have a background in commercial property, coupled with extensive knowledge of leases and tenancies.
You have these skills and experience:
• Demonstrate relevant commercial property and estate management experience.
• Hold a recognised degree level qualification in a relevant surveying, valuation or property management subject.
