It is an independent SRA-authorised and regulated legal business offering services to both insured and non-insured clients comprising of businesses, high net worth individuals and associations across a broad spectrum of industries. It has an exciting opportunity for a Casualty Solicitor, circa 5-10 PQE to join its Casualty team in Leeds. At present, the dedicated team comprises of 6 fee earners, a Partner, a Senior Associate, an Associate, a Solicitor, a Trainee and a Paralegal. The work is fast-moving, varied and challenging. This is a senior level opportunity where, alongside Fee Earning responsibilities, you will support the Head of Department with the supervision of solicitors and paralegals, and in achieving the strategic aims of the department. Providing initial prospects/opinions to insurers on a wide variety of disputes, including those relating to employers liability and public liability within the social welfare, equine and construction sectors Managing a caseload of your own, including recommending reserves and setting strategies under the supervision of a Partner Supporting the Head of Department with the supervision of solicitors and paralegals, and in achieving the strategic aims of the department Achieving the department’s fee targets and enabling others to do so by assisting in the development of junior members of the team Setting and delivering objectives personally and through the team Setting team objectives in conjunction with the Head of Department, monitoring performance and progress and providing professional guidance to team members as appropriate Handling a mixed caseload of fast track, intermediate and multi-track work What will you need to be considered for this role? Existing defendant personal injury litigation experience in both EL/PL and professional liability claims involving personal injury Experience in clinical negligence, Animals Act 1971 and policy coverage would be ideal, although not essential This role offers an element of home working but the preferred would be 3 or 4 days a week in the office.
