About the Opportunity
Amentum is currently recruiting for an Engineering Director to join our Engineering & Technical Solutions (ETS) business. ETS is in an exciting phase of growth and opportunity through business transformation, support to the UK’s current fleet of Nuclear Power Plants and supporting new Small Modular Reactor developers. Our work is varied, covering New Build, Existing Generation, Life Extension, and Defueling, and our capabilities are in demand across the nuclear sector. This role is specifically in support of the engineering design and development of new Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) designs. Working closely with both key client stakeholders and internal Amentum teams to develop enterprise level relationships and lead multi-disciplinary engineering design teams.
Are you good at working in a dynamic environment supporting delivery of net zero ambitions?
The role is an exciting and dynamic role that will involve leading and overseeing a range of parallel engineering workstreams and programmes supporting the design and development of NPPs. Engineering teams will be geographically distributed both within the UK and Internationally, working using integrated, digital design tools and virtual working arrangements. Hybrid working (home / Amentum office) will be suitable for the majority of the role; however, a level of national and international travel will be required periodically and to support initial relationship building and knowledge transfer.
And this is where you come in
Your role will be to lead and direct the multi-disciplinary engineering teams and activities, delivering complex engineering solutions to time, cost and quality, delighting key client stakeholders and building enduring trust and relationships. This will involve very close collaboration with key client stakeholders and peers, in order to ensure absolute alignment on objectives and excellent levels of client satisfaction.
If you’re familiar with project delivery, you’ll know that they have plenty of moving parts and complexity, which is why you’ll be working alongside our Operations Managers and Directors to support you to deliver successful outcomes.
The role will also involve transitioning engineering support from working as integrated Amentum / client teams initially to a more packaged delivery approach where appropriate to do so, in order to enhance value, increase gearing and promote innovation.
People are at the heart of everything we do
Centre to the success of the role will be your people skills, building effective relationships and interacting with multiple internal and external stakeholders in multiple locations.
You’ll also work closely with colleagues to support activities that offer the best service to the client. Through your interactions, you’ll be able to gather useful intelligence on client needs and work with the team to deliver innovative solutions.
You’ll utilise your strong communication and engagement skills to achieve client, people and business outcomes, working with your engineering teams and peers across the UK. We’re continuously evolving and growing the business, so there’s plenty of opportunity to evolve and grow your skills and career too.
This role will be based at one of our ETS offices across the UK, but may require secondment to client sites in the UK or overseas. We put flexibility at the heart of what we do and we’re happy to consider flexible working patterns.
