Role Purpose
To work alongside the nursery team ensuing that children receive the highest standards of care and which they are safe and happy at all times.
To provide high standards of quality within the nursery including the environment, resources and all experiences on offer to the children.
To comply with the statutory framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage and all relevant legislation.
To observe and reflect on children's play routine thereby planning a resourceful and challenging environment which supports and extends areas of children's learning.
To maintain accurate and effective records.
To plan and prepare suitable opportunities for the children to learn and develop and ensure that they are challenged at each stage of their development; and to ensure that there is appropriate planning and preparation in those regards.
To work in partnership with parents/carers and other family members.
To ensure that the needs of the children are met at all times and ensure they are kept safe and when necessary follow Safeguarding, Child Protection and Whistleblowing Policies and Procedures.
To ensure children are treated as individuals and provide all children with an atmosphere where they are valued with the opportunity to develop a positive sense of identity to help them develop a positive self -image.
To ensure the effective implementation of Key Person Policies and Procedures and to be the named Key Person to a small group of children.
To demonstrate good practice with regard to special needs and inclusion.
To identify and report the need for any additional support as early as possible and work alongside professionals to support the child and their family.
To develop and maintain highly professional working relationships with advisory teachers, area SENCO and all other agencies.
To ensure that the nutritional needs of the children are met and that Food Safety Regulations are completed with.
To attend monthly meetings and raining sessions outside normal working hours.

To remain up to date with current developments in childcare and education.

To assist in maintaining the nursery buildings, resources and equipment to a high standard reporting maintenance or cleaning issues appropriately and promptly.

To work with the management and staff during inspections by regulatory bodies and
assist in the implementation of any recommendations.
To attend out of work activities such open days, training etc.

Education and Qualifications
• Level Three in Early Years (as defined by the Workforce Development
Council)
Experience, knowledge and skills
General
/ Experience within a nursery
environment (for the under two's room this must include under two experience).
/ A sound knowledge of child
development for children from birth to five years.
v A sound understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
Curriculum.
/ An understanding of play based approach to children's learning and development.
/ Understanding of the role of key
person.
Knowledge of Safeguarding and Child
