Role Title: Structural Engineering Intern Reporting Line: The Structural Engineering Intern will report directly to the Structural Engineer – Composites. Department Overview: The Structural Engineering Team sits within the Technical Department and is responsible for establishing load case strategies, development of structural concepts, analysing and engineering components and assemblies and thus maturing the concepts into detail production designs for our eFoiler® Propulsion and Vessels. All of these activities need to be performed in close collaboration with the other departments. The Role: The Structural Engineering Intern will contribute to the design and development of Artemis Technologies eFoiler® with a focus on composite structures, working at vessel and hydrofoils level with the Naval Architecture and Mechanical Systems teams. Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities: Develop a system to measure load from strains for EF24 and compare these to load assumptions for static and fatigue loads: Use FE models to support decision on where to apply strain gauges or other measuring devices. Based on the FE model develop a transfer function to calculate loads on specific locations. Verify strain gauge measurements and load transfer function). Support load measurement on EF24. Postprocess load measurements to compare to load assumptions used in the design of EF24. Support in postprocessing and documenting these measurements to validate fatigue loads for DN 2. Support in the development of EF24 structures using hand calculations and FE models Person Specification: Education/Qualifications and Experience Required: Student of Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or similar with a focus on structural design. Ideally after finishing a minimum of 3 years in university. Previous experience with the Abaqus FEA software and Python or MATLAB for data processing.
