Make a Difference in the Lives of Adults with Learning Disabilities!
Are you passionate about providing exceptional care and support? We're seeking caring and dedicated individuals to join our team at Sesame, a warm and welcoming 4-bed residential home for adults with learning disabilities in Torquay.
Who we are:
Since 1996, Lifeworks has been empowering people with learning disabilities in Devon to achieve their dreams and build fulfilling lives. Our core values of kindness, respect, and positivity guide everything we do.
Sesame is a warm and welcoming home, providing 24/7 tailored residential care and support to adults with learning disabilities. Our focus is on providing support and opportunities for our residents, to enable them to reach their full potential, increase their independence and ultimately, live their best life. Residents are encouraged to participate in daily life, from contributing to household tasks to sharing their input on home decisions.
What you’ll do:
You’ll be joining our committed team, working to provide our residents with personalised, high-quality support. Your day-to-day tasks will vary, but will include:
- Delivering high-quality personal care, ensuring dignity and respect are always maintained.
- Assisting residents in developing independence and achieving their goals.
- Creating engaging activities and supporting participation.
- Contributing to a positive and supportive home environment.
- Working as a team to ensure tasks are completed efficiently.
Who we’re looking for:
- A reliable and dedicated team-player, able to work collaboratively to provide high-quality care to our residents.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (non-verbal communication skills, such as Makaton, BSL or PECS would be an advantage, but not essential).
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage time efficiently.
- Flexible and adaptable, responsive to changing needs.
- An understanding of person-centred care, safeguarding and risk assessments.
- Previous experience supporting people with learning disabilities in a residential home setting would be advantageous, however, if you have other relevant experience, we would still love to hear from you.
- You must be a driver to be considered, as we need staff to support our residents on their outings (in our company vehicles).
Our bank staff support our core team by covering shifts, supporting when there is planned annual leave in the team and also helping in unforeseen, emergency cover situations. Reliability and flexibility are key, as the team would depend on you to help when needed. We operate on a 24/7 basis at Sesame, so although we are ideally looking for people who can cover a variety of shifts, we would still welcome applications from those who may not have as much availability.
Our day shifts are typically 08.00-14.00, 14.00-20.00 or 08.00-20.00, and our night shifts are usually 20.00-08.00.
Build Your Career at Lifeworks!
We're passionate about supporting our staff just as much as we are about supporting our service users. When you join our team, you can expect:
- A Real Living Wage of £12.00 per hour minimum.
- 28 days of paid holiday per annum (pro rata for part time roles).
- A fully funded DBS check and update service to ensure a smooth onboarding process.
- Access to valuable resources including an employee assistance program to support your mental and emotional health.
