Job Title: General Class Teaching Assistant (Year 10 - SEMH School) Location: Wirral Salary: Competitive, based on experience Contract: Full-time About the Role: We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated General Class Teaching Assistant to join a Year 10 academic class in a secondary SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school, recently rated “Good” by Ofsted. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting the class teacher, helping to deliver lessons, and engaging students to ensure they stay focused and motivated in their learning. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students with special educational needs, particularly in settings that may involve additional behavioural challenges. Your role will involve creating a supportive classroom environment where students feel encouraged to participate and succeed. Key Responsibilities: Support the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons to Year 10 students, providing individual and group support as needed. Engage with pupils to encourage participation, focus, and a positive attitude toward learning. Assist in preparing and adapting materials to meet the varying needs of students with special educational needs. Promote a calm, supportive classroom environment where students feel safe and respected. Work collaboratively with the teaching team to implement behaviour management strategies and ensure students’ social and academic progress. What We’re Looking For: Previous experience working in a similar setting, ideally with SEMH or SEN students. A proactive, engaging approach with the ability to build positive relationships with students. Strong communication skills, with a calm and patient attitude to support students with varying needs. Ability to work collaboratively with the teaching team and contribute to the overall success of the classroom. A genuine passion for helping young people reach their potential and thrive in a supportive learning environment.
