A well-established specialist school is seeking an enthusiastic and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. About the Role As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students across Key Stages 2-5 with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, anxiety, and other emotional and behavioural challenges. You will work closely with teachers and therapists to provide tailored support, helping students engage with their learning in a safe, structured, and nurturing environment. Key Responsibilities
* Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students with SEMH and additional needs.
* Assist in delivering engaging lessons, ensuring students can access the curriculum at their level.
* Support students in developing social skills, emotional regulation, and self-confidence.
* Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and therapists to implement personalised learning plans.
* Foster a positive, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment.
* Assist with personal care and emotional well-being as required.
* Manage challenging behaviour using de-escalation strategies and a trauma-informed approach.
* Encourage independence and resilience by supporting students’ academic and personal development.
What We’re Looking For
* Experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly SEMH needs.
* A patient, empathetic, and understanding approach to supporting vulnerable students.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* The ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
* A proactive and adaptable mindset, with a willingness to support students both academically and emotionally.
* A relevant qualification in education, SEN support, or child development is desirable but not essential.
