As a proud College for women, Murray Edwards is seeking a Programme Manager to play a pivotal role in our Enterprising Women Programme. The Programme offers three tracks to aspiring women in the early stages of business development.
Murray Edwards Enterprising Women is dedicated to empowering women students with entrepreneurial aspirations by providing them with expert advice, mentoring, and the support necessary for success. The initiative aims to become a central hub in Cambridge for women engaged in early-stage ventures, whether as founders, non-executive directors, or investors. The programme will offer three intensive tracks: one for women interested in entrepreneurship, another for those in the early stages of launching a company, and a third for women seeking venture capital or involvement in early-stage growth. Murray Edwards College will serve as the nexus for supporting, celebrating, and amplifying the impact of women across the university in shaping the early-stage business landscape.
Purpose of the role:
The Programme Manager will be responsible for the management and professional delivery of MEEW’s activities, including one-off events, workshops, and programmes for students, recent alumnae, and postdocs. As a key member of a dynamic team, the role involves supporting the growth of early-stage entrepreneurial ideas from students across various disciplines and across the university. The Programme Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring the financial sustainability of the programme, funding, managing relationships with stakeholders, and ensuring the successful delivery of the programme.
Main duties and responsibilities:
1. Programme content – planning, development and delivery:
o Manage the programme content and ensuring a professional delivery in alignment with the Steering Group's objectives.
o Identify and oversee expert suppliers, both internal and external, to support programme delivery.
o Manage the selection process and pipeline of potential participants.
o Oversee communications between all programme stakeholders, including entrepreneurs, coaches, mentors, and the MEEW team.
o Provide meaningful reports to the steering/advisory groups on progress and activities.
2. Management of Programme Finances:
o Lead efforts in securing grants and funding, including drafting proposals and managing submissions working with the Development Office and the Steering Group.
o Manage the programme’s budget, ensuring all activities are delivered within financial constraints.
o Provide regular financial updates and prepare annual strategic and budgetary documents.
3. Programme marketing:
o Oversee the promotion and marketing of the programme, supported by the college’s communications team.
o Manage key promotional events, including launches, networking days, and workshops.
o To be an ambassador for the programme within the wider University of Cambridge community, within Murray Edwards College and the wider ecosystem.
4. Relationship Management:
o Establish and maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders, including entrepreneurs, mentors, VIPs, college staff and colleagues across the wider University of Cambridge community within Murray Edwards College and within the wider ecosystem.
o Represent the MEEW at relevant local and national conferences and events to promote the programme.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience innovation and entrepreneurship, particularly with supporting and managing programmes in these areas. Strong relationship management and networking skills are essential for this role.
This is a part-time role, three days per week (22.5 hours).
