Job Duties:
The SEN Teaching Assistant will provide support to students with special educational needs (SEN) in the classroom, assisting the teacher in implementing individual education plans, monitoring and recording progress, and providing feedback to the teacher. Additionally, the role involves helping students with their personal care needs, promoting independence, and assisting with classroom management.
Required Qualifications:
Ideally Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent. Knowledge and experience working with students with SEN is essential.
Education:
GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths are required. Additional qualifications in SEN support are desirable.
Experience:
Prior experience working in a classroom setting, preferably with students with SEN, is preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
Understanding of SEN strategies and interventions, strong communication skills, patience, empathy, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or higher. Additional training in behaviour management or SEN support is advantageous.
Working Conditions:
The role involves working within a classroom setting, providing support to students with SEN. The environment may be challenging at times, requiring patience and flexibility. Full-time hours are expected, following the school term calendar.
