Clinical/Counselling Psychologist (Development Role)

This is an exciting opportunity for a psychologist to undertake a development role from Band 7 to 8a in our neuropsychology pathways providing a direct clinical offer and also helping shape psychological provision. We offer excellent supervision and support from a Consultant Neuropsychologist. The job is full time, but part-time hours would be considered. You will have experience in neuropsychological assessment. We are looking for someone who enjoys MDT working with lots of opportunities to provide supervision, consultation and training. This would include developing psychological and cognitive skills for the staff team in line with a matched care approach. The neuropsychology service sits within Community Care Psychology, a large and supportive psychology team where there are lots of development opportunities and CPD.
Main duties of the job
* Providing neuropsychological assessments and interventions for people with acquired and neurodegenerative brain injury, including FND, and their families and contributing to a culture of support and collaboration both in the service and with partners.
* Active contribution to MDTs: providing case discussion and care planning with an emphasis on sharing biopsychosocial formulations and evidence-based interventions.
* Contributing to audit, research and service development.
* Providing formal and ad-hoc supervision to other staff, including trainees as well as providing teaching and learning opportunities.
* Providing clinical expertise and leadership in the psychological and cognitive needs of people following a stroke and ABI and their families and contributing to a culture of support and collaboration both in the service and with partner agencies.

Person Specification
Experience
* Experience required specific to the role and clinical area.
* Experience of multi-agency and multi-disciplinary working.
* Experience of conducting clinically relevant research.
* Significant experience of supervised practice including working with families and care organisations.
* Experience of assessing and providing a wide range of psychological interventions to a wide range of patients presenting with a full range of clinical severity.
* Experience of exercising clinical responsibility for a patient’s psychological care and treatment.
Additional Criteria
* Able to meet the travel requirements of the post.
* Previous publications in either peer-reviewed academic or professional journal and/or books.
Qualifications
* BSc/BA Honours degree at 2:1 or above in Psychology.
* Post graduate Doctorate in Clinical/Counselling Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS.
* Evidence of regular continuing professional development through further professional training and experience, as required by the HCPC and the BPS.
* Eligible for registration as a Chartered Psychologist (Clinical or Counselling) by the BPS.
* Registered with HCPC as a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist.
* I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer.
Knowledge
* Knowledge required specific to the role and clinical area.
* Well-developed psychometric assessment skills.
* Advanced theoretical and applied knowledge of psychological approaches and assessment for people with psychological problems, including specialised psychological assessments and interventions.
