The Opportunity: Group Financial Reporting Accountant Contract: Permanent Location: Cannock / Hybrid The Briggs Equipment Group is a leading provider of asset management and maintenance solutions across the UK and Ireland. Reporting to the Group Technical Reporting Manager, the Group Financial Reporting Accountant will play a key role in coordinating and delivering accurate and timely financial reporting. This role focuses on US GAAP reporting, UK GAAP financial statement preparation, and supporting corporate structure and process improvements. The role will also involve the preparation of technical accounting papers and Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR) compliance. You will work closely with internal finance teams and external auditors to ensure robust financial governance and compliance. The Impact you will have: Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports under US GAAP to the parent company. Ensure the timely and accurate completion of group consolidation reporting in line with corporate deadlines. Assist in the preparation of statutory financial statements and ensure alignment with group accounting policies. Coordinate and manage deliverables to internal stakeholders, ensuring all reporting requirements are met on time. Prepare technical accounting papers to support key accounting judgments and ensure compliance with US GAAP and corporate policies. Audit and Compliance Support external audits by preparing relevant documentation and liaising with auditors. Ensure compliance with internal financial controls and policies, identifying areas for improvement where necessary. Maintain a strong understanding of US GAAP and corporate reporting standards, advising the business on relevant updates. Take ownership of Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR) requirements, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance with regulatory guidelines. Process Improvement & Corporate Structure Work with finance leadership to enhance reporting processes and implement best practices. Support projects related to corporate structure and financial governance, ensuring efficient workflows and compliance. Assist in refining financial reporting tools and processes to improve accuracy and efficiency. What will help you to excel in this role: Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with post-qualification experience. Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP and financial reporting requirements. US GAAP is an advantage. Experience in corporate reporting to a US parent company is highly desirable. Experience in preparing technical accounting papers to support key accounting positions. Understanding of SECR requirements and environmental reporting within a corporate setting. Proficiency in financial consolidation and reporting systems. Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and coordinate deliverables. Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
