About the Role As an ASD Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. You will work closely with teachers and other support staff to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment. Responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant will include: Assisting in the implementation of personalised education plans for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Providing one-on-one and small group support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder to help students understand and complete their work, providing additional explanations and assistance as needed. Monitoring and assessing student progress, providing feedback to teachers and adjusting support strategies as necessary. Participating in meetings and discussions to share insights and strategies for supporting each student’s learning and well-being. Fostering a welcoming and supportive atmosphere where all students feel valued and included. Employing different instructional techniques and materials to cater to the diverse learning styles and needs of students. Keeping detailed notes on each student’s development and communicating this information to teachers, parents and other relevant parties. Requirements of the Teaching Assistant: Experience working as a teaching assistant or support role in a primary school or classroom setting with students with ASD. A deep understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder and effective support strategies. Demonstrate the ability to establish trust and rapport with all members of the school community. Show a deep commitment to helping students with ASD by exhibiting patience and empathy in your interactions. Additional qualifications or training in special education are advantageous but not mandatory, providing you with additional skills and knowledge to support students with ASD effectively.
